Dickens Christmas Show - Part 1

As I mentioned in a previous post, I went down to Myrtle Beach, SC last weekend. I never thought I'd never live long enough to see this!

(My husband was just shaking his head that I had to stop & get this picture for you all! He just doesn't understand!) I actually saw unleaded gas for as low as $1.75 in SC. Gas where I live is 20-25 cents higher per gallon.

This past Sunday, I went to the annual Dickens Christmas Show & Festivals Week at the Myrtle Beach (SC) Convention Center. The vendors dress in funny looking clothes period costumes, and sell all kinds of stuff.

Various people provide holiday decor to benefit local charities. Here are some of the shadow boxes they had, and I think they're suppose to be scenes from A Christmas Carol.

As my daughter was quick to point out, it was just Ken in a box...don't think they impressed her much.

Various people or organizations in the community, also decorate mannequins as Santas, and here are a few of those. I believe they're Santas from around the world, but I didn't have time to notate where they're from because it's a long drive home, and I was in a hurry!

My daughter said this was the German Santa (glad she knows). He looks kind of like the Grim Reaper to me, no offense to any German folks.

She said this one was the Civil War Santa (didn't know we had one!)

Now, this is just my opinion - for what it's worth, and I don't know from where this one hails, but he was a little "toe up" to me. His beard was...well let's just say, not good...rasta-nastian!

Stay tuned this weekend, and I'll show you the gingerbread houses, floral arrangements, and all of the Christmas trees you see in the background....and there were a ton!

A special thanks to T.K. for taking the pictures for me!

Oh what fun you must have had!! Some of those Santa's ?? Hmmm.....
I love to collect Santa's and Snowmen...MUCH, MUCH smaller versions though!
(Amazing the gas price! We are still at 2.29/gal! I think these guys have to wait for the few people in our area to consume up the higher priced stuff before they lower it...and then about that time come around, we'll be back up to $3...)

Good early morning Tar...It sounds like TK has her mother's fun way of looking at & expressing things...haha! The 2nd box looked like an old grey-haired Elvis to me. Have a most jolly wk-end! Hugs, Bo

Hey Tar - Our gas prices are coming down here too - I saw some for 1.89 yesterday. Your pics were great - where is your place in SC? We have one in Little River in Eastport Condos. We are on the sound side - DH had to have a boat slip for the boy toy!! DD is at UNC-A, but has told me she wants to transfer to State next year - YEAH!!! My sis doesn't have her own blog, just comments on ours and lately she has been so busy at work she hasn't been able to play with us as much!!
Have a good one ~

When we aren't Clemson fans, we're Tar Heel fans. My son is in law school at UNC, first year, so we've promised to transition over from raging Clemson football fans to raging UNC basketball fans ASAP.

Looks like you had a good time! Don't you just love MB? I haven't been down that way in years, seems I always end up in Charleston when I head to the beach *smiles* I live right on the border of NC/SC so I always try to buy fuel in SC as it's much cheaper.

Have a wonderfully blessed weekend!

Loved going to Myrtle Beach with you. Where's the beach? Christmas is coming just a little too fast for me this year. Do you think we could postpone it a week or two? laurie

I can't believe the price of gas either. It's around 1.70 here in Arkansas. I hate to buy gas, but I know we have to get around. The 3.89 prices kept me home alot more. Who knows what they will be 6 months to a year from now!

Looks like you had fun at the show, those santas were great. Kristen

Looks like fun.
I'm sure glad gas is going down. The lowest I've seen is 1.79 downtown today.
