Another Award!

My sweet friend, Bo, over at Blinks 'N Winks from Brown Eyes passed along this award to me.

Here's the rules:

1) Open the closest book to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, to page 56.

My book is: The Christmas Shoes by Donna VanLiere
Now, as a note, I'm not reading this book at the moment, but it is the closest to me! However, I have read it, and if you haven't, it is a wonderful Christmas book, and I would encourage you to read any of the author's books!

2) Write out the 5th sentence, as well as two to five sentences following...

"This is my regret," she answered softly. "This is a Dunhill Billiard from England. Your father always wanted one. I was saving it for a special occasion." She took it back from me. "You know what I thought about as I held your father's hand when he lay dying in that coma after his heart attack? I thought about this Dunhill Billiard pipe, buried up here in this stupid chest." She stared at it for a moment and then re-wrapped the pipe in the tissue paper. "I don't know what sort of occasion I was waiting for", she said quietly, her voice trailing off, "because every day was a special occasion with your father. Every single day."

(You know I always have to break the rules, but I thought the lines in italics made the paragraph!)

3) I'm to pass it along to 5 blogging friends.

1. Susan @ http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/
2. Lynette @ http://lynetteslam.blogspot.com/
3. Stacey@ http://poofingthepillows.blogspot.com/
4. T @ http://heavenlychic.blogspot.com/
5. Tam @ http://yakiddyyakyak.blogspot.com/

This was loads of fun, now please enjoy sharing it! Thanks again, sweet Bo!

Hi Tar...That little snippet from "The Christmas Shoes" sounds like a really good read...At first I thought it might be about the song where the little boy goes to buy his dying mother shoes to wear to meet Jesus...sniff-sniff, I love that song. Hugs, ;-) Bo

Congrats! You deserve this award. That sounds like a really great book. It sure is fitting how I feel about my father. I'm tearing up... Being military and so far away from family is tough. Have a wonderful day. ~Melissa

Ah Thanks for the hug! You're sweet. My family is all in North Florida (PC), one sister and her family in Birmingham, Ala.
My husband is an Ohio native and almost everyone on his side is scattered throughout that state. We have no children so it's always us doing some major traveling around this time every year. This year we decided to stay put though.
We're looking forward to it. Is that bad? :) I'm still thinking about the topper. Do you have the stores phone number? ~Melissa

Hey there,
Just visited your site for the first time and lo and behold it hit me what your "logo" was...the North Carolina thingy. I'm Miss Janice's bff and she's sending me around trying to get me hooked on blogs. I design websites and have one I'm doing involving the Tarheel logo so that is what hit me when I came to your blog. I'll let you know when it's finished. I really enjoyed your blog.

Hello Tardevil, You did a great job on your book award. I would have so much trouble with that as most of my books are still packed. I hate it but we have yet to find room in our mountain home to put our books. We are working on it. Congrats on your award. It is easy to see you love to read. Me too.

Hugs...Jeanne
