2nd I WONDER WEDNESDAY

Welcome to the 2nd I WONDER WEDNESDAY! I'm so glad you stopped by to see what I'm wondering and to hopefully offer some help suggesting some answers!

So, today, for I Wonder Wednesday, I wonder this...

why do cars still come with turn signals if only maybe HALF of the population uses them?

I'm just saying! Has anyone else noticed this besides me?

If you wonder anything, leave me a comment, and join me next week for I WONDER WEDNESDAY! Now, Bo @ Blinks 'N Winks from Brown Eyes & Lynette @ Lynette's L.A.M. are also wondering something today also, so be sure to stop by and see what they have got on their mind!

And if you can provide an insightful answer for either Bo, Lynette or myself, then PA-LEEZ leave us a comment, as it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED...

It's hard to wonder stuff, and not get some answers! REALLY!

Now, be sure to stop by later in the week, and I'll show you some things from my recent consignment store trip!

You know, I wonder why the police patrol cars in our neighborhood don't use their signals either. Many a morning while driving Jacob to school we would follow officer Johnson or one of his compatriots into the school's parking lot sans blinker. Good thing we could read his mind, huh? What a great example for the up and coming high school drivers. ~ Robyn

Ya know, I don't go into a city much (a big one) but in our small country town, pop. 378
...everyone uses blinkers! And there is never anyone on the road but you!! Wonder if that is so we can remind ourselves of where we thought we were going...or should be going..

Wow, if 1/2 the people in your area use their signals, it's about a 50% increase from where I live lol. Kathy

I wish I had an insightful answer, Tar, but I don't because I'm wondering the same thing. I particularly wonder it when I see someone turning right on red with no blinker on! It's like there are more cars on the road and less people doing it. I heard that they've done away with driver's ed in some of the classrooms! Our instructors insisted on us doing this. Maybe they should reinstitute it.

Good question!

XO,

Sheila :-)

I'm crackin' up about the signals! Here's my "I Wonder" questions....
1. I wonder why Lincoln County Schools are closed and Char/Meck Schools are closed but Gaston County schools are on a 2 hr delay?
2. Also, I wonder if there will EVER be a big enough snow here so that I can make some dadgum snow cream?!!
Have a great day today and thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting!

Good morning Tar...This is a good "wonder"...what gets my goat is to wait on an approaching car & then they turn without a signal as they get to your street...and you could have gone on instead of sitting there watching them turn. BTW, on my posting some of the words are missing...like the words with silent letters and the text about Jessica being fat...is it missing when you click on my blog or is it just mine that's messing up? ♥ Bo

Oh, Tar...somehow I have missed this fun Wed. thingy. I will take your button over and put it on my sidebar..maybe it will help me remember for NEXT Wed. There's so many fun things to do every day of the week and I get behind on some of them! i'm old...and I'm slow!!:O)
NOW..it DOES make you wonder about using the turn signals...I'm too scared I'll get hit if I don't use mine and I always glare at the people that don't use them! Hubby says I'm gonna get shot between the eyes if I don't stop glaring at them...tee hee

I can't stand it when people don't use their signal!! Its such a small thing really!!

I posted an "I Wonder" why today - its really an email that I got a while back - but I'm playing along. Forgot to tell you yesterday - maybe I need to snag that Dory after all?

Well, around here -- I blame the new folks from higher locations (get my drift - ha) who have invaded our area. lol :o)

Let me tell you -- my husband likes to stop at green lights! What is up with that?!?!?

Terri Steffes said...

Yes, I wonder on this too.

I say to my husband and daughter ALL the time... Blinkers are your friends.

Morning girl..well down here we're all just neighbors and we sorta figure everyone can just read our minds...after all where else are you gonna see a big old tractor mixed right in with highway traffic! lol But I always use my signals! Thanks for coming by and I hope you are having a great week!

My first thought was that I remember when there were no turn signals. Even when they first started putting them on cars a hand signal was also required even if you used the car signal. We've come a long way baby. When was the last time you saw somebody give a hand signal? Most people probably don't even know what they are. When I took Drivers Ed back in the early 50s we used the hand signals.

I use my signals NOW! I was in a turn lane and did not have my signal on....I WAS IN THE TURN LANE!!! A man yelled at me and made me cry because I did not have my turn signal on... so now I always put it on because I totally lose it when yelled at.

I am going to take your Dory tomorrow.. Stayed home from work today with a terrible headace...

Why do cars come with blinkers?? I don't trust a blinker I wait until the car turns before I do anything..

Haha....I have wondered that too...right after my road rage comes out! ha! I gave you an award on my blog!

Hey there. So glad you stopped by my blog. Our snow is all gone and as far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing. I guess I had my fill of it the 4 years we were in Massachusetts and had to look at it for 4 months and sometimes more. Hope you'll visit again. I'm going to try and get back in the swing of things soon. Trying to play catch up after being in Chicago for 9 days.

OMG!! This is so funny.. I think I am the only one in the whole county that uses blinkers. Maybe they aren't taught to use them in drivers ed. I did not grow up her. I learnt to drive on the san Diego freeways. These people would be sure canidates for road rage. I may even flip them off! Not really.. not here! I'd get a really bad name ya know!!

I'm still questioning why we drive on parkways and park on driveways so I can't even help you figure out why people don't use their turn signals!

Good question.
I think there are several answers though.
1)Some schools do not offer drivers ed so young drivers never had it pounded into their heads.
2)Some people think they are so special they don't need to let you know they are gonna turn. The world waits on them.
3)People who live in small towns like mine (pop.445) just figure everybody knows where they are goin' and when they're gonna turn.
4)And some people are just plain rude!
Well with that said, that's my take on this well pondered question.

I've come to the conclusion that blinkers must be a very extravagent accessory to add to certain cars and those poor folks can't afford it. And for the younger generation...we (the older and wiser generation) have failed to teach these youngsters the proper hand turn signals (no this does NOT include the middle finger!) HAHA

That is a great question! Years ago I remember my mother learning to drive and many cars didn't have turn signals. The driver put his/her hand out the window and signaled which way he/she was turning.
Hugs,
Sweetie

Thanks for stopping in and saying hello. No one using signals in AZ including many patrol cars. But then again, I used to enjoy just driving...now it is like a crash derby waiting to happen!!

Hi sweetie. how interesting.. I've seen this around.. I'm wondering a few things too! I loved yours. Thanks for swinging by today. I'm glad you like Miss Kitty and Mr. Mouse. The cake stand was a recent find and a steal of a deal..I'm glad you like it. If Mr. Mouse gets loose again I'll send him your way.. :-) hugs ~lynne~

I ALWAYS use my blinkers....been known to even signal taking a curve! :0)

Now DH NEVER signals, but NEVER gets a ticket either! Sheesh!

Forgot to tell you that the Dory Button is too cute ~ I always say that, only I add the word "diddly", as in, "I can't remember diddly squat!" Diddly in this case is of course an adjective meaning "absolutely". My mother thinks it is hysterical.

Big TX Hugs,
