Christmas Present 2008

Since I have nothing else to write about without having to spend some time in Photobucket, I've decided to show you my "big" Christmas present. I've seen some other bloggers do this, and thought I would play along. I'm a "little" late, but I hope you are forgiving. For the record, I received so many presents, for Christmas 2008, that I greatly love and appreciate, but this one that I'm going to show you today, is super awesome. Plus, I know you dish lovers can appreciate it. As I might have hinted around to before, I have a slight ginormous dish problem. And because I don't really care for clutter, I needed to do something about my overloaded china cabinets. My husband, not the shopper when it comes to buying for others, usually just says, here's some money...go and buy something you would like. It takes the romance out of it, but I've learned to live with it, and have actually come to like the idea. Well, this is what hubby gave me!

As you can tell, these photos were taken at 2 different times in attempt to show the beveled glass...notice any difference?

(and please ignore that phone!)

You can't go wrong when they let you select your own gifts, can you? YEAAAA, SWEET HUBBY!

It's called a mantel curio cabinet. I had never heard of that kind before, and I don't know why it has that name. I love the beveled glass. (My flash is on the lowest setting, and there is still a glare, so I hope you can see it.) The door slides left to right or right to left.

Do you think for a minute that I was a little nervous when they brought it up my front steps? If you said "yes", you'd be right!

It would probably look better with colored glass in it, but for right now it just houses our wedding china pattern, Crown Flower by Noritake, and some of my crystal collection.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Tardevil, thank you for your kind words and prayers for my surgery tomorrow. I didn't want to dwell on it, so only a few people knew about it. I appreciate your prayers so very much.

Your new cabinet is gorgeous I love the beveled glass. it is very classy and your lovely china deserves the best. Sometimes my dh lets me pick out my own gift and I do love it. I shouldn't say lets me, he is the most generous man I know. All that for almost 45 years.
I can see your dh is generous too. Love that in a man.

Love and hugs...Jeanne

Well done on finding the cabinet. Perhaps it's called a mantle cabinet because it's outer is shaped like a Victorian mantle around a fire?

Lovely collection of dishes too. I forgot how many I had until it came to taking thm out of the old fashioned travelling trunk last year. I've only just unpacked more. :-)
